The Venice Community Church of the Brethren began in 1983 as a gathering of Brethren who wintered in the Venice area. The Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Bradenton offered encouragement and sponsorship to the group as an outreach mission, and the group was granted status as a Fellowship of the Church of the Brethren at the 1986 District Conference in Castaner, Puerto Rico. On December 6, 1987 the fellowship was recognized officially as a church.
We are a community of disciples and seekers, with varied ideas and backgrounds, who desire to follow Jesus and live in ways that reflect his teachings. We do this by gathering in worship, reading and studying the Bible together, caring for each other in times of need, nurturing one another's spiritual gifts, sharing meals and activities, and reaching out in Christian love to others through our service.
We practice a welcoming environment for worship and fellowship, and we place a high value on the friendships formed through our church.
